A school library includes dozens of bookshelves filled with educational reading material for the students. Books are a limited resource in most of the schools where FH works. Providing books for students greatly increases their reading comprehension, critical thinking skills, and develops their desire to continue learning.
EDUCATION THAT CHANGES A CHILD’S LIFE!
In the summer of 2014, FH implemented a project that aimed to improve the educational structure in Nicaragua. This included the construction of a classroom, a library and a recreational center. Each of these spaces improved students’ access to education and reduced drop-out rates as more than 50 percent of students who finished sixth grade never made it to high school. As a result of this strategy, the community reported 84 percent school retention.
