India is a country in South Asia. It is the second-most populous country (with over 1.2 billion people), and the most populous democracy in the world. Bound by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west; China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Myanmar (Burma) and Bangladesh to the east. India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.

Our History in India

In 2015, FH began working in India after two exploratory visits revealed the desperate need among the Banchada people, whose primary livelihood included the age-old tradition of selling their daughters into prostitution. With the HIV/AIDS population sitting at about 50 percent of all Banchada sex workers, the people there are in need of vocational training, education and hope.
